The Danish Industry Foundation focuses on three specific drivers to develop and support initiatives, activities and projects – primarily in Denmark, but also abroad:

Knowledge is a fundamental driver of growth. We are engaged in creating and enabling the application of new knowledge in the Danish business sector.

Competences are a prerequisite for the creation and evolution of growth.  We are engaged in ensuring that companies have access to employees, who are in possession of the necessary knowledge and competences to create growth in individual companies.

Innovation compels us to rethink the status quo and allows access to new markets. We seek to strengthen SMEs and entrepreneurs’ capacity to innovate.  

In cooperation with the secretariat, the board of directors governs the Foundation’s equity of approximately 650 Million Euros. The Danish Industry Foundation has more than 100 active projects in its project portfolio. All projects are presented in Danish on www.industriensfond.dk and some of them have strong ties to countries or regions outside Denmark. A number of projects are shortly described below:

AM-Hub

The project will encourage the Danish industry to engage with 3D printing technology and clarify the relevance and possible use of additive manufacturing. AM-Hub aims to involve research and educational institutions, advisors and other relevant actors who can contribute to Danish SMEs’ gaining access to skills, advisory and testing facilities in additive manufacturing. The intention is to release the innovation and competitiveness of 3D printing technology.

Break the Code

The project seeks to utilize the joint efforts of humanitarian organizations by making them all work together. That way better solutions will be created, and Danish help organizations and businesses can benefit from the global industry´s need for sustainable solutions and systems within energy, waste management, water and sanitation.

Cyber Security

The Danish Industry Foundation is ready to invest 100 million DKK in an ambitious effort to fight cybercrime. Increasing cyberattacks are costing the businesses, and the threat is growing as Internet of Things digitalizes our houses, cars and more, making us more vulnerable. The investment is a broad effort to reform companies’- and employees’ behavioral patterns, but also to increase the security in products.

Danish Tech Challenge

Danish Tech Challenge is a unique incubator programme specifically designed for hardware entrepreneurs. In the programme the entrepreneurs will accelerate the development of their businesses while at the same time participating in the competition to win The Danish Industry Foundations’ Entrepreneur Award.

Danish Water Technology House

The Foundation has established an office in Singapore where Danish companies can approach the East Asian market for water solutions and learn from local companies in countries where water ressources are scarce and knowledge plentiful.

From Big Data to Big Business

There is an enormous profit potential for manufacturing firms working with big data. But one of the key barriers to obtaining data-driven growth is the lack of knowledge about which capabilities are needed to extract value and profit from data. The project have therefore developed a research-based capability-mapping tool, entitled DataProfit, which is useful when creating data-driven growth in a company.

Founders of Tomorrow

65 young hopefuls take on a five-day education and training session, while simultaneously participating in a competition to win a global training course. The goal of this project is to prime the new generations to create businesses, using the latest technology to solve facing challenges.

Gateway to India’s Smart Cities

India holds great export potential for Danish companies to sell smart city solutions such as cleantech. The project intends to increase export by improving businesses knowledge of supply and demand, capacity build and implementation.

House of The Danish Industry Foundation

The Foundation has built a university in Beijing for students, professors, scientists and companies from China and Denmark to meet and collaborate on various topics and projects.

House of Green

House of Green is a showroom for Danish technologies within the cleantech sector. Physical showrooms are located in Copenhagen and in New York City. Furthermore, House of Green, together with State of Green, hosts guided tours in Denmark where foreigners can visit and meet companies from the cleantech sector.

MATChE

MATChE (Making The Transition to Circular Economy) intends to create a method for production companies to be able to identify and implement the potential that lies within circular economy. The goal is to strengthen their adaptability to work with this economy and optimize their use of resources.

Nordic Health Lab

A new living lab provides companies, institutions, citizens and public organizations with a one-of-a-kind clinical test environment to develop equipment, plus explore and expand their knowledge within Public Health. The project aims to pool existing knowledge by letting players join forces, thus creating new products and solutions.

Open Entrepreneurship

Knowledge is key in this project by four universities seeking to bridge the technological information gap between the institutions and Danish industry. By establishing business units at the universities, experienced business entrepreneurs can build networks and tap into the institutions´technological resources, producing a better information flow to increase the amount of spin-out companies and acquisitions.

Recycled Plastic Waste

The project sets out with a technological rethinking of the usage of plastic material, which will transform our waste into a financial resource for the companies in the value chain. The goal is to increase our use of recycled plastic through a mapping of the material and a line of educational courses, thus creating a sustainable production and environment.

Smart Home

The Smart Home project explores the future of businesses’ customers relations. Buildings have become interactive, producing massive amounts of data. Data that shows the customers’ habits and needs. The goal is to develop a business model, a `Smart Home Living Lab´, which can convert this data into new products and services for the businesses.  

Suitable for Markets in Asia

The aim of the project is to spread elements of the Suitable-method, based on the experience of a previous project “Suitable for Growth”, thus support Danish companies to grow their business in four selected Asian markets: Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and South Korea.

Simplimize

The project has developed the Simplimize-method, which is an operational procedure for simplification of companies’ product range. The method creates a structured frame for developing an optimal product architecture, an effective production layout and an improved innovation process. The process strengthens the competitiveness by providing both lower costs and effective innovations.

SDG initiatives

A number of projects working with the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) has been initiated. The projects aspire to accelerate Danish private-sector engagement in the SDGs by showcasing new sustainable business opportunities and empowering employees to take action.

SMV Crowdsourcing Lab is a project to help small to mid-size production companies grow by using crowdsourcing to innovate. The project will lift their innovation capacity through a series of training programmes, network building and knowledge sharing.

The Innovation lab of Sports

Danish sports need more brain muscle from entrepreneurs and companies to help create new products, services and technologies. The Sports Confederation of Denmark has established this project to facilitate a cooperation between the business industry and the sports. The end goal is to create larger sporting events as attractive platforms for business to get exposure.

Ultra:bit

Children need to be more than users of technology – they need to be the creators too. Ultra:bit is the largest project of its kind, equipping a whole year group of young fourth gaders to use their imagination and creativity for a future of technology. The two-year project provides each child with a personal microchip for them to develop.

WTA California

Denmark specializes in water management and for the state of California the lack of clean drinking water is an ever-pressing matter. WTA California is a Danish-American alliance seeks to solve this problem by building a new export of Danish water expertise. The project is a collaboration between Danish water authorities, Danish businesses, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
